Antarctica by Anvil
Antarctica by Anvil is a collaboration between the Antarctic Institute of Physics and Farriers Society of Antarctica. The expedition seeks to test the application of geo-magnetic forces to facilitate long-distance anvil locomotion in remote locations.
Specific research areas include:
-
-
directional re-orientation at magnetic pole
-
oxidisation characteristics under prolonged exposure to sub-zero temperatures
-
impacts on thin-ice crusts (<100mm)
The expedition is currently seeking approval for launch in February 2016. Further support form commercial and research partners and individuals is sought. The partners are also seeking to recruit certain specialist team members (see recruitment page).
